About SmartWorld Power
A development company with one conviction.
SmartWorld Power is a United States–based solar project developer focused on African markets. We exist because the distance between Africa's solar potential and its financeable projects is a development problem — and development problems are solvable.
Why we exist
Sunlight is abundant. Bankable projects are not.
Across African markets, demand for reliable power keeps growing — from utilities, industry, mines, farms, and data infrastructure. The solar resource to meet much of that demand is already there. What stands between the two is rigorous, patient, multi-disciplinary development work. That is the work we do.
From our base in Johns Creek, Georgia, we originate, evaluate, structure, and advance solar projects across African markets — working with local developers, governments, utilities, financiers, and delivery partners.
The gap is development, not sunlight.
Africa has world-class solar resource and enormous unmet demand. What is scarce is the disciplined development work that turns that combination into financeable projects: site control, grid access, credible offtake, lender-grade studies, and coherent contracts. That work is our entire business.
Everything must advance together.
A project where the PPA is ahead of the permits, or the design ignores the grid, is a project that will stall. Technical, commercial, environmental, financial, and stakeholder workstreams must move in step — coordinated deliberately, not reconciled at the end.
Local partnership is structural.
Local developers, landholders, professionals, and communities hold knowledge and legitimacy that no outside team can substitute. We build projects with local partners as principals, not as box-checking.
Honesty is a development tool.
Optimistic files fail diligence. We name risks, publish only what is real, and measure progress in evidence — because credibility with governments, lenders, and communities is the developer’s only durable asset.
The horizon is decades.
A solar project is a thirty-year commitment to a place. We develop with the operating decades in view: maintainability, community relationships, grid evolution, and the capacity of local teams who will run what gets built.
Talk to the team.
The fastest way to understand how we work is to bring us something real — a site, a requirement, a market, a question.
